Long after the tent was taken down, the school floors swept, and the final goodbyes were said, there remained a certain magic in the air. We couldn't believe that such an event could stir up so many good feelings! Friendships were rekindled and the pictures bear witness to the excitement and anticipation of this much-awaited reunion.
On Friday night we greeted our alumni back to the Calgary Academy hallways. They were greeted at the door by faculty - it was astounding to see how easy it was to recognize each other, even after 25 years! Some alumni students and alumni staff traveled long distances to attend - they came from British Columbia, all over Alberta and as far away as Ontario to reconnect. A king-size yearbook welcomed the alumni and everyone took their time strolling through the years of pictures.
We were treated on Saturday with beautiful, warm and sunny weather - perfect for our event. On this day alumni and families returned and were joined by current families of the Academy for a fun filled day. We had magicians, Laser Lance for Mad Science, strolling cowboys singing to the crowd, face-painting and lots and lots of bubbles! It was a virtual playground for the families. To cap it off we had an enormous tent where families enjoyed an amazing western barbeque while watching their children play on the playground.
Without our fantastic and willing organizing committee, our 25th reunion never would have happened. Without the willing assistance from our current faculty who volunteered, the event would not have run so smoothly. We will always be grateful for the dedication, hard work and determination given to make this event one of the most special in Calgary Academy's long history. The reunion will be talked about for years to come!
