Equitable Playing Time

In accordance with the rules of the Calgary Independent School Athletic Association (C.I.S.A.A.) and the philosophy of Calgary Academy Knights Athletics, the development of Calgary Academy athlete progresses from participation based involvement in grade 7 and 8 to more competitive focus in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12. In reference to playing time, athletes that have acquired the necessary basic skills and also show commitment to the team and program's philosophy are entitled to equal playing time in grade 7 and 8. The basis of this philosophy is that at this stage all athletes need to be exposed to and practice the skills as they develop into competitive athletes. By grade 9 and throughout high school, athletes will be aware of the importance of the skills they have picked up and be clear in the understanding that they continue to have a fair chance of playing time based on performance as well as commitment.
